Snapchat Chat Reply - How to Chat and Reply to Snaps or Stories on Snapchat

Snapchat's latest update (19th November, 2015) version 9.20.0.0 has added some more interesting features.  This update allowed Snapchatters to slow down, speed up or reverse their videos and also brings the "Lenses" feature to the rear camera. By activating the Lenses while filming someone by holding a finger over their face, you'll see a grid displayed over it, and an array of Lenses at the bottom to swipe over.

The recent update also introduced support for 3D Touch in the new iPhone 6S and 6S Plus. Snapchat has also added small timestamps to the right of your list of stories to watch, indicating how recently a story was last updated. It's a small feature, but it beats guessing how old a story is by eyeballing the shrinking pie chart graphic on each one.

The most interesting feature added in the newest update to enhance your disappearing-picture experience, however is the “Chat”. This Chat feature make it easier to reply to story snaps and easier to chat. Definitely made it a lot easier for people to engage with friends while watching their stories.

This update is available both for iOS and Android and puts a little "Chat" prompt at the bottom of the screen while watching a friend's story. The chat feature is not new in Snapchat, it has been around for quite some time, but now that it is tied to the Story feature, chatting can now be more personal, and maybe even more fun, considering what many teens use Snapchat for these days.

How to Chat with friends and Reply Chat on Snapchat?

Here’s what Snapchat in their official blog had to say about this new feature.

“Swipe right on a friend’s name in your Snapchat inbox to start chatting. When you leave the Chat screen, messages viewed by both you and your friend will be cleared – but either of you can always tap the message or screenshot to save anything you’d like to keep (addresses, to-do lists, etc.)!

We let you know when a friend is Here in your Chat so that you can give each other your full attention. And if you’re both Here, simply press and hold to share live video – and chat face-to-face!”

This Chat feature makes it easier to start a conversation with another user based off something they snap to their story, whereas before users weren't quite sure which snap any incoming message may be replying to. Now, when viewing a snap in someone’s story, you can swipe upward to send that user a direct chat message. The friend you're talking to will receive a notification to the conversation along with the Snap being discussed. Pleease note that to enjoy this new feature you need to update your already Snapchat App.

Happy Snapping!

Snapchat ‘Speed Modifiers’ Video Filters - How to use snapchat Slow Motion, Fast-forward and rewind filters

Barely a month after Snapchat introduced Lenses feature, the company added a new set of filters called “Speed Modifiers” for videos shoot on iOS or Android. This new feature allows Snapchatters to add slow-motion, rewind, and fast-forward filters to their videos. Rather than puke rainbows, users will also now be adding something closer to special effects to video Snaps. Just swipe sideways after shooting a video and you’ll eventually see them applied to your snap.

This feature opens up tons of creative opportunities. One can imagine people stringing together fast-forward, then rewind, then slow-mo clips to create a sort of highlight snap. The video filters will give normal people with just their phones the same special effect superpowers as a professional video editor. Snapchat is iterating on its platform fiercely, with new updates and functionality coming out as ways to attract new, paying users and advertisers. Earlier this month, the Financial Times reported that company was looking into Sponsored Lenses. With a business model focused around ads, Snapchat has to keep people coming back to watch as much content as possible. The better the content on Snapchat looks, the more they’ll come back to see the weird little moments from the lives of friends and celebrities.

How does the new Snapchat video filters work?

To use or enjoy the new video filters, you will first need to update the app which is available in the App Store and on Google Play or just tap the Snapchat app already installed for latest updates. Please note that updated app version is 9.18.0.0.
Pic Credit: techcrunch

Slow-Motion: It reduces the speed of your video so that your friends can see everything in excruciatingly slow detail. After you shoot a video in the latest version of the app, simply swipe left or right until you see three arrows (rewind) or a snail symbol (slo-mo).

Fast-Forward: It makes your video play faster, which is great for sight gags of people falling, like in the example up top

Rewind: It plays your video back at the same speed but in reverse or it plays the video backwards.

The new update also includes 3D Touch features for users on iPhone 6S and 6S Pluses, allowing Snapchatters to quickly chat with contacts or add friends. You can strong tap on your Snapchat homescreen icon to quickly reach options for sending a snap or adding a new friend.

How to use Snapchat lenses?

Snapchat in its September updates has upped the selfie game in a big way with its newest lenses feature, which detects the shape of your face and turns it into a kind of human emoji. Those puking rainbows, you’ve probably seen plastered over Facebook and other social networking sites, originate from the new update. There are three main additions in the update. Previously, you could replay snaps, although there were a restricted number available every single day. With the new update, you’ll be able to purchase more replays through in-app purchases. This is the latest installment in Snapchat’s attempts to monetize its application.
Unfortunately, the vomiting rainbow no longer exists, which means no more of this. If you've probably grown fond of the new Snapchat rainbow filter and disappointed over its abrupt disappearance. The good news is it may still come back according to some reports.

In the recent updates, Snapchat used lenses to allow users to add filters to their selfies before sending them. It is evident that many were disappointed that the rainbow filter disappeared owing to its popularity. Some even took to Twitter to express their sentiment.

According to Business Insider a new lens rotates in every day. So if you're sick of everyone's rainbow selfies, you're in luck. It means that there is a chance that there’s a new lens every day and will probably have all kinds of new faces to play with every day!

This new Snapchat updates adds support for Lenses, which according to Snapchat are a new special effects that track the location of your head and respond to facial movements like an open mouth or raised eyebrows.

Is your phone supports Snapchat Lenses?

First of all, you need to make sure that you update your Snapchat application to the latest 9.15.1 version. Please note that all devices support the other two main new features, Snapchat lenses are exclusive to newer devices. For iOS, this means that if you have an iPhone 4s or lower, you’re out of luck, since the first supported device is the iPhone 5.

On Android, the minimum requirement is Android Lollipop. Lenses are also not supported on some devices including older iPhones, iPod Touches, and many older Android devices. Also, recording video with Lenses is only supported on Android 5.0 or highe

Download Snapchat for Android, iOS and Windows

One of the most download apps on the market - Snapchat is available absolutely free for download for your Android and iOS devices. Unfortunately Snapchat is not available for other devices like Windows phones due to the shutdown of third party applications by Snapchat, however Snapchat can still be used on Windows by running through third party application like BlueStacks .

SnapChat is fast and fun mobile conversation application. This app allows snapping a photo or a video, adding a caption, and send it to a friend on the contact list. The app allows it to view it, laugh, and then the Snap disappears from the screen of the receiver unless they take a screenshot.
You can also add a Snap to your Story with one tap to share your day with all of your friends.
The best form of conversations can happen when your friends are present; it will let you know if your friend is online in your Chat so that you can give each other your full attention. And if you're both online, simply press and hold to share live video - and Chat face-to-face!

Until recently, Snapchatters on Windows Phone had third-party solutions to choose from, such as the
excellent 6Snap. But after Snapchat clamped down on unofficial clients hooking into their systems, all third-party apps were removed. The past few months have been tough for ‘Snapchatters’ on Windows Phone who have been dealing with banned accounts and top Snapchat alternatives being removed from the store.  There has never been an official app for Snapchat on Windows Phone and that doesn't look to be changing any time soon despite the outcry from the community. However for Snapchat lovers there’s still another way of using Snapchat on Windows 7 & 8. Here is a simple guide that will show you how to Download and use Snapchat right on your desktop. Please make sure that everything goes properly.

Download Snapchat for Windows PC

Please make sure that before downloading BlueStack update the graphics driver version of your computer to its latest version because the app had got better graphics quality and your PC’s driver should be compatible with that. Otherwise, the app might not work smoothly on your computer.

To begin with the installation process now first you need to install BLUESTACKS which is available for download for free from the official site here: http://www.bluestacks.com/download.html you can trust this software as it’s used by millions of users.

By clicking on the executable file you just downloaded start the installation of BlueStack and wait for it until it finishes installation.

Now open you BlueStack application and login with your Google Account once software is ready and to complete its setup.

Once setup is completed you will then see user interface similar to Android tablet which means you will be able to use an Android device right on your computer now.

There you will see Google Play Atore apps, on the search bar, type Snapchat Android app and hit enter. At last click on Install option to complete the process and the downloading and installation process will begin and will be completed automatically.

In our next post we will show you How to setup Snapchat and start snapping.

What is Snapchat App? How does Snapchat work?

What is Snapchat App?

One of the hottest mobile apps, fastest growing apps in the world and also one of the most controversial - SnapChat is an application for iPhones, iPads,  Android and other devices that allows users to send photos to specific users or subscribers. However, unlike many other apps in the market, SnapChat allows users to set a 1 second to 10 second expiration of the photo, and then it's gone for good. Anything shared through the service self-destructs, leaving no evidence that it existed. SnapChat also allows Snapchatters to choose to have their photo or video saved in their phone’s photo gallery or just sent to friends. The application by default, Snaps disappear from the screen once they are viewed - unless your friend decides to keep it, such as with a screenshot or separate camera. Snaps are meant to make conversation more spontaneous, visual and fun! The best part is that Snapchat doesn’t eat up your phone's memory.

<

The Beginning!

Snapchat was developed by Evan Spiegel, Bobby Murphy, and Reggie Brown, then Stanford University students. The application was launched in September 2011.

Evan Spiegel and Bobby Murphy were of the view that emoticons were not enough to transmit the emotion of a person that could be sent with a text message. But they were also nervous that a quick snap of a cellphone camera showing a particular emotion might end up being inappropriate for a social media site where the picture could be posted for all the world to see. So the concept of a time-limited photo sharing and the most loved application among the teenagers was born.

Here's what the Snapchat creators had to say on their blog

My co-founder Bobby and I met at Stanford in 2009. I was a freshman studying Product Design and Bobby was a junior working on his B.S. in Mathematical and Computational Science. Our first project was Future Freshman – a site that would forever improve the way high school students applied to college. Or so we thought. The site failed to get traction but we learned something important — we loved working together.

In April 2011 we moved into the not yet lucrative world of mobile photo sharing. With most photo apps on the market advertising ways to make photos prettier or more stylized, we thought there was an opportunity to do something different. We wanted a place to share awkward selfies and funny photos with our friends.

And after hearing hilarious stories about emergency detagging of Facebook photos before job interviews and photoshopping blemishes out of candid shots before they hit the Internet (because your world would crumble if anyone found out you had a pimple on the 38th day of 9th grade), there had to be a better solution.

We quickly got the first prototype up and running and continued to develop it throughout the following summer in Los Angeles. We worked tirelessly - except on beach days - with great input from close friends and family. Then in September 2011 we launched in the AppStore.

To get a better sense of how people were using Snapchat and what we could do to make it better, we reached out to some of our users. We were thrilled to hear that most of them were high school students who were using Snapchat as a new way to pass notes in class—behind-the-back photos of teachers and funny faces were sent back and forth throughout the day. Server data supported this and we saw peaks of activity during the school day and dips on the weekends.

We still can’t see any of the Snaps sent through our service, but we have tweets, emails, and Snapchat-tagged photos on Instagram to keep us tuned in to what our creative users are doing.

Snapchat isn’t about capturing the traditional Kodak moment. It’s about communicating with the full range of human emotion — not just what appears to be pretty or perfect. Like when I think I’m good at imitating the face of a star-nosed mole, or if I want to show my friend the girl I have a crush on (it would be awkward if that got around), and when I’m away at college and miss my Mom…er…my friends.

We’re building a photo app that doesn’t conform to unrealistic notions of beauty or perfection but rather creates a space to be funny, honest or whatever else you might feel like at the moment you take and share a Snap.

We love the app — couldn’t go a day without it — and we’re super excited about the future.

The Volume!

Snapchat is reported to have an active users of 100 million. In May 2014, the app's users were sending 700 million photos and videos per day, while Snapchat Stories content was being viewed 500 million times per day. The company has a valuation of $10-$20 billion depending on various sources.

How Snapchat Works!

Once the SnapChat application is downloaded from the App Store or from Google Play, like any other applications the user registers and sets a password. The application then accesses your contacts on your cell phone to load friends to the application, or you can add other friends beyond your contact list by inviting them.

Once you load the app and login, you can take a snap, you can edit it and add caption or other "doodles." Then finally you select its destination from your friends list to send the photo to and set a timeframe from 1 to 10 seconds. Once the photo message is sent, the receiver has the time set by the timer to look at the photo before the message "self-destructs."

Friends can then take their own photo to reply or just send a message back.

In our next post we will show you how to Download Snapchat Application from app market and Install it on your device.

Happy Snapping!
