How to Hide Snapchat Discover section and Live events - Snapchat Updates

This post is specially created on How to Hide Snapchat Discover section to help our readers with the new updates. Snapchat one of the hottest social networking app on the planet at the moment is making users freaking out over a new updates. Snapchat is taking some drastic steps to make sure you know about Discover,  the special section where chosen media partners (and Snapchat itself) post content for the app's millions of users. Snapchat on July 13,2015 updated its app with a redesigned Discover and Live Stories screen that sandwiches a very prominent shortcut to Discover partners right on top of the stories page.

Snapchat is trying hard to justify the $19 billion value being slapped on the company by private investors. In order to promote the Discover section, and get more hits for its media partners, Snapchat has made this drastic change and moved Discover to the top of the Stories section. Previously, Snapchatters would have had to click on a separate page in order to access the Discover content.

Depending on how you feel about Discover, the change could be somewhat annoying. The old Discover section is still around, so it's now in two places — with no way for users to toggle off the new (smarter) placement. It very much feels like Snapchat is trying to force this on users.

Snapchat Updates Receives Negative Feedback

Since its update, the app has received nearly 67,000 one-star reviews in Apple's App Store, criticizing the decision to place Discover and live events above other people's individual snap stories. The feedback is so negative that Snapchat's average review rating in the App Store has dropped from two-in-a-half to one-in-a-half stars.  And the last couple of updates don't seem to be making things better for the Snapchat team.

Snapchat Updates has causes problems on the phone

According to reviews and complaints on the app's page and various forums the latest Snapchat update delivers more than just a new look, the app drains the battery life for many iPhone and Android phone users. There are also complaints about about data usage and and memory consumption.

How to Hide Snapchat Discover section and Live events

One of the common questions is how to hide the Snapchat Discover section.  The latest doesn't include an option to hide the Discover section and the Live events Section, the only option available for hiding Discover and Live events section is to Uninstall the Snapchat Update.  This downgrade to the older will give you better battery life, lower CPU usage and the old layout which you love using, but this might takes a little time. Please follow the step by step guide on how to uninstall the updates and use the older version.

For Android:
To uninstall updates and restore Snapchat app to the version that came  installed on your Android phone or tablet, follow the steps below:

Open Settings on your phone or tablet.
Select Applications.
Select Manage Applications.
Scroll through the list of applications and choose Snapchat.
Select Uninstall updates.

For iPhone:
1. Delete the app from your iPhone.
2. Connect your iPhone to the computer and open iTunes.
3. Do not update your apps in iTunes. Back up and sync your iPhone using iTunes.
4. When the sync is complete, click your iPhone in the left iTunes menu under DEVICES. Click the Apps tab at the top of the iTunes window. Find the app you wish to downgrade under Sync Apps.
5. Make sure the box is checked next to the app you wish to downgrade. Click the Apply button.
6.The old version of the application will be copied from your computer to the iPhone.

If you have already updated the application on your computer, or synced your iPhone before deleting the new version of the app you must follow this step first. Open the trash can or recycling bin and look for the older app version (this file will end with the suffix .ipa).

Drag the old app file into the iTunes window. iTunes will ask if you want to replace the app with an older version. Confirm and begin from step one above. If the old version is not in your trash can you cannot access the older version of the app.
