What does a Gold Star emoji mean on Snapchat? What Does a baby mean on Snapchat?

Snapchat has launched one of the most talked about updates last week and there hase been many confusions among Snapchatters with regards to the new emojis. This latest updates includes animated selfie lenses, a trophy case and paid replays.

The lack of explanation is not unprecedented. It has become Snapchat’s tradition of keeping Snapchatters curious about the various features. Whenever, new features are launched, Snapchat hardly provides any official axplanation or documentation about what each features mean or represented.

This is a part of an attempt to gamify the application and also marketing strategy to create virality by making Snapchatters to flock to social networking sites and other platforms seeking for answers. This strategy has enhance coverage and discussions of the application or the subject and ultimately it increases its popularity or its presence on the web.

With the new updates, there is an emojis appear right next to your friends’ name or friend list on the application homescreen. This update has added a Gold star and a mysterious Baby emoji on the right hand side of a snap before being opened. Though most of the other features receive immense coverage across the web and in this blog, the mysterious new emojis were seem to be left out.

The new update also left out many users of iPhones and older version of Android phones despite meeting minimum requirements.

What does a Gold Star emoji mean on Snapchat?

What Does a baby mean on Snapchat?

The gold star and baby emoji has joined the red and pink hearts as the latest Snapchat emoji to further confuse snapchatters with its meaning. Both emojis arrived bundled with the Snapchat latest update (September). The explanation was shrouded in mystery. Fortunately we’ve come across some explanations for the two. The Gold Star emoji accompanies the name of a friend who has recently replayed your Snap. In other words, Gold Star is actually an indication to show that one or more of a recipient’s friends replayed snaps of theirs in the past 24 hours.

On the other hand, the explanation for the baby emoji seems sufficiently viable; when you snap a recently added friend, the emoji will show next to their name to signify that the user has been added recently and needs "love" or interactions. These are the latest friends lists emoji.

So that’s what the Gold Star and Baby emoji on Snapchat is all about.

For the rest of the new snapchat moji meanings, please check out our previous post:
Snapchat Trophy Case List - Complete list of Snapchat Trophies

The latest version of Snapchat provides the opportunity for users to replay a snap for a period of 24 hours after the first viewing. This can be done by going to Settings (small gear icon located top right) in the Snapchat app and tapping on Additional Services, and then tapping on the replay option. One replay is enabled, you simply hold down on the snap you want to replay for a couple seconds and then it will ask you if you want to replay it and you can.

Snapchat Face Swap ~ How to use Snapchat Face Swap

Snapchat Face Swap ~ How to use Snapchat Face Swap

Frequently Snapchat app gets new lenses, but only few of them become very popular. One such lens is the Snapchat Face Swap lens that came out on 28 February,2016 (Friday). The latest lens -Face Swap is a two-person lens, the first one of its kind on Snapchat, and has been gaining great reviews on social media.

Of course, face swaps have terrified the internet for ages now, but Snapchat goes further as with other Lenses, the effects react to your movements, meaning you can make the above  thing (and any other creepy faceswap) look like it’s actually alive.  Face-swapping, in case you've some how managed to miss all the fun, is a simple digital switcheroo -- you take a picture of your face, select someone else's face, and go! They're swapped like magic. Sometimes the results are very impressive. More often, they're funny. Every so often, they're horrifying too. The horror usually comes from people trying to swap faces with animals or non-living objects, which also happens to be how the most amusing swaps occur. Your mileage may vary.

The feature is available as a new lens, which you can pull up by tapping and holding your face on camera, then scrolling over to the face swap lens. Basically what it does is just copy and paste faces. Except, the results are so much creepier than we would expect with such a simple concept. Seriously, even the most gorgeous people turn into two awful Franken-beasts in the eyes of this new filter.

However, many users are still are struggling with using the damn thing. We’ve put together a quick tutorial to help you face swapping.

How to use Snapchat Face Swap

Lets assume you have Snapchat and the latest version, to enjoy this new feature you need to update your Snapchat app to the latest version which is available on app market.

Snapchat Face Swap not Working?

If you can’t get the Snapchat Face Swap lens or feature to work for you, it’s best to look at some things that you need to do.

First try the basic thing first. Hold your camera further away and looking straight ahead seems to work best. You may even want to use a selfie stick for as it’s really hard to get the proper distance and press the snap button at the same time. You can make Snaps even more fun by adding real-time special effects and sounds with Lenses!

Make sure that you have a partner or some object, this is important because Snapchat Face Sap works by facial recognition.

Your face should be on the exact yellow circle.

If Snapchat Face Swap still not working after following all the steps we provided, please make sure that you update your Snapchat App to the latest version.

Happy Face Swapping!

Snapchat Add Nearby - Snapchat Update

Snapchat in its July 2015 updates makes a pretty big change, it added new Feature called "Add Nearby" this feature is a quick way to add a group of friends when you’re all hanging out together. If everyone opens Add Nearby, a list of your friends will appear on the screen. Just tap to add.

Apart from this it also makes viewing snaps much easier instead of pressing and holding the screen to view a Snap or Story simply Tap or View. Thise means no more tired thumbs while watching a several hundred second Story.

Snapcodes also got a serious upgrade :) You can add a selfie to the center of your Snapcode, so that it’s easier for friends to recognize you when you add them on Snapchat. If you see a Snapcode in another app, just take a screenshot. You can add screenshotted Snapcodes through Add Friends.

To increase user security, Snapchat also rolled out two-factor authentication to improve Snapchat overall security. Once you enable it, bad guys will have a much harder time if they try to hack into your account.

How to Add Snapchat Add Nearby?

Add Nearby is perfect for when you meet a group of new friends and want to add them on Snapchat. Have everyone open Add Nearby at the same time to find each other. If no results appear after a minute, simply tap to search again.

No. Add Nearby only works when both Snapchatters have Add Nearby open.

If I blocked an account on Snapchat, can they find me on Add Nearby?
No. Accounts you have blocked cannot see you on Add Nearby, even if you’re in close proximity and both have Add Nearby open.

Snapchat Live Stories - A complete guide and explanation

What are Snapchat Live Stories?

Wondering what the new Stories section in Snapchat is all about? Snapchat’s Live Stories are a curated stream of user submitted Snaps from various locations and events. Users who have their location services on at the same event location will be given the option to contribute Snaps to the Live Story. The end result is a Story told from a community perspective with lots of different points view.

It has been a year since the messaging startup first introduced Live Stories, the photo and video montages that serve as look-ins on live events like the Kentucky Derby or Hillary Clinton’s presidential campaign rally. And in the past six months, Snapchat has beefed up the team that curates these stories while prepping for more advertising partners to coincide with the 2016 presidential campaigns.

Snapchat’s Live Stories draw an audience of 20 million people in a 24-hour window. The three-day Live Story Snapchat did around Coachella back in April generated 40 million unique viewers, he said.

If you're a seasoned user, then you probably already know that it's a pretty nifty app for sending quick photos and videos to your friends in the most casual way possible -- because they all "self-destruct" and are automatically deleted just seconds after the recipient opens it.
But Snapchat Stories give you a brand new way to message your friends.
In fact, this feature is a lot more like a personal feed rather than a message.

How Snapchat Live Stories Works?

A Snapchat Story is a photo or video you post to your very own Stories section of your account, which is visible by you and all your friends. When you visit your "My Friends" tab in Snapchat, your username should appear at the very top, and beneath it will be a circular icon of the most recent story may have posted. Same goes for your friends.
You can tap anybody's name to trigger the dropdown menu that may show additional stories, if the user posted several of them. Stories live for 24 hours and can be viewed again and again for that period. Once the 24-hour time limit is up, they are automatically deleted.

Snapchat’s Live Stories are similar to other social media sites like Facebook’s timeline, this “slideshow” is public for all Snapchat friends. But, unlike its rivals, Snapchat’s picture/video chain feature only lasts for 24 hours–thus maintaining Snapchat’s vision of sharing media temporarily.
Anyone in the world with Snapchat can open their app, find the collection of snaps from event, and watch it as a single Snapchat Story. The feature doesn't identify who created which snaps, only showing that they were all captured at the same event.

If there is a collection from a live event in your area, it will appears in a new label marked "Live" found under the "Recent Updates" section of the app. While the feature seems tailor made for entertainment events, it could also prove to be a useful journalistic tool.

Posting to Snapchat Live Stories

Live Stories allows Snapchatters who are at the same event location to contribute Snaps to the same Story. It’s really easy to use. :)

Tap the Stories icon on the bottom of the screen.
If you are at an event that has a Live Story, you'll see two options: 'My Story' and the event's Live Story. If you send your Snap to Live Story, it may be published and viewable by anyone.
