What is a Snapstreak on Snapchat? And What does the number next to Fire Emoji mean?

Some of you might have noticed or wonder that some of your Snapchat's friends have different emojis display next to their names like the fire emoji or icon. Well these emojis replaced the Snapchat's most favorite and controversial feature "Best Friends" which displays the top three friends that you have been on a “Snapstreak” with to the rest of your contacts. These emojis (you may check out What Do Snapchat Emojis and Numbers Mean? ) marked your friends which indicates the level of Snapchat activity between the two of you.

Streaking on Snapchat has nothing to do with  nudity. Instead, it means that two users are engaged in an ongoing "Snapstreak," which is a fancy way of saying you two have consecutively snapchatting each other for some time. The longer the Snapstreak, the the higher the Snapstreak scores. Cool right!

Snapchat Snapstreak is usually counted in days. As long as you and your friend keep sending each other snaps everyday, your streak continues to burn or count on. Now lets look What does this 'hot' emoji even mean? or Snapchat Snapstreak 101 is all about.

What does the 🔥 even mean on Snapchat?

If you noticed this icon it means you are on a Snapstreak. In other words, you and your friend have Snapped each other within 24 hours for more than one consecutive day.

What does the number next to the 🔥 mean on Snapchat?

The number next to the 🔥 tells you how long you've been on a Snapstreak with that particular friend. For example, if you have an '10' next to the 🔥, it means that both of you have Snapped (not Chat) back and forth  for '10' days. If it is 15 days, correspondingly it will 15. Cool right!

Why to keep your Snapstreak going?

To keep the Snapstreak burning, both you and friend must keep on sending a Snap (not Chat) back and forth to each other within 24 hours.

If your Snapstreak is going to end soon, hourglass icon ⌛️ will appear next to someone’s name with whom you have been snapstreaking. You can avoid this by regularly sending each other a Snap (not a Chat) to keep your streak alive. See our previous post on What Does Hourglass Emoji Mean on Snapchat? Snapchat Emoji Meanings

Why most Snapchatters love this feature?

This feature lets Snapchatter to basically spy on their friends and lovers to see who they're chatting with most. With a quick glance one could see for instance - find out if their boyfriend or girlfriend was potentially sexting someone else. Or, see if their bff has been cozying up to another friend. Or, stalk a cutie to see if they have any competition.

Best Friends Disappeared!

With Discover update, the most beloved feature of snapchat was gone (not all). Even though the Best Friends feature is still there but it is not visible to anyone like before. This makes spying just a little bit harder. Most snapchatters were super upset about this and they have not been quiet about the issue, flooding Twitter and Facebook with commentary about the removal.

Best Friends Coming Back!

Relax, Snapchatters the "Best Friends" feature is coming back soon.
After much outrage at the disappearance of Best Friends feature Snapchat CEO Evan Spiegel through his Twitter account announced that the “Best Friends” feature would be removed because “a few higher-profile friends wanted to keep their usernames private,” and  Spiegel assured his 30 million monthly users that the company would return the beloved stalking mechanism to its rightful owners in due time, but gave no specific time.

What Are Snapchat Best Friends?

Here is what Snapchat official site has to say, Best Friends are updated regularly and represent the
friends you Snap with most frequently. They are selected automatically by a magical Snapchat friendship algorithm.

You can see who your Best Friends are when you send a Snap. Nobody else can see your list of Best Friends.

How Does Snapchat Best Friends Work?-How Best Friends works?

Lets look at how snapchat’s Best Friends Scores works or calculated.
According to Snapchat, it is done with a "magical Snapchat friendship algorithm." So what is this magical algorithm? How does it works? This simply means that it measures the number of snaps exchanged between two people, then ranks that person out of the rest of your contacts. It also has flaws, as well. For instance, if someone sends you snaps often and you reply to a few of them, they may end up on your best friends even though you don't send them snaps often. However, this depends on how many best friends you have set, whether it is 3, 5, 7, etc., as well as how often you send snaps to other people on your contact list.

Where to Find Snapchat Best Friends?

Snapchat Best Friends are displayed on top of your contacts list. It is a list of top friends in a separate section on top of your contacts list. Best Friends list is also displayed below your username and score. It is displayed as a list with gold stars beside the usernames.

That's it on Snapchat Best Friends Emoji list, we will keep on updating this post, when new emojis are added.
