Snapchat Filters List and How to Use Snapchat Lenses or Filters?

Snapchat Filters or Lenses are one of the most popular features of Snapchat since Best Friends were removed. Filters were first introduce in Snapchat, 2015 updates and since then it has upped the selfie game in a big way with its newest lenses feature, which detects the shape of your face and turns it into a kind of human emoji. These "Lenses" or "Filters" uses facial recognition to perform crazy animations, allowing you to puke rainbows, swap faces, contort your face, celebrate a birthday, or even morph into an animal.

Snapchat Lenses are are rotated every day and new ones are being  introduced often and so they are not permanent. At first Snapchat offer the ability for its customers to buy (with real life money) lenses to be used at any time. But these were scrapped in the recent updates, along with this, the popular rainbow filter or the vomiting rainbows were removed.

One of the most confusing things about Snapchat is how to access these lenses or filters and how to use them. We will work you through all the Snapchat filters and how to apply them.

Snapchat Geofilters

Snapchat’s version of letting people know where you are or hashtag is its Geofilters. Geofilters is one of the coolest features, the ability to add a Geofilter to an image or a video, a special stamp that is added with the name of a place, business or event. Geofilters, or digital graphics that can be laid atop a photo or video, are Snapchat users’ way of telling their friends where they are at a given moment.

The graphics, which usually feature sketches of landmarks, are geographically restricted, so a user of the content-sharing app would need to be within Hollywood, for example, to access one for that neighborhood. Snapchat users are pretty obsessed with them, and hundreds of millions of photos with these Geofilters are viewed daily.

Snapchat On-Demand Geofilters

On-Demand Geofilters are of two types- Personal Geofilter and Business Geofilter.

A Personal Geofilter promotes a personal event/location like a birthday party, wedding, house party, or graduation party. Personal Geofilters can also be used for private locations (like your home) over a longer period of time (max 30 days). Unlike Business, Personal Geofilters cannot include marks, logos, branding for businesses.

A Business Geofilter promotes a business or a brand. For example, you could create a Business Geofilter for your coffee shop, an upcoming sale at your store, an ad over a space like a park, and more. Business Geofilters need to meet Snapchat Business Guidelines.

How Snapchat On-Demand Geofilter Works?

On-Demand Geofilter Works on three things-

Design – You can design and use your own favorite image editor to create a filter. Snapchat also provided some ready templates that are compatible with Photoshop and Illustrator to get you started. Your image should be 1080 by 1920 pixel large file with a transparent background, or use one of the readymade templates. Once done, save your Geofilter from the File menu using ‘Save>Save for Web (Legacy)’ and select the ‘PNG-24’ preset from the drop down menu. Make sure you save your image as a PNG so the background is transparent. Finally, upload your Geofilter using the On-Demand Geofilters tool at: http://geofilters.snapchat.com.

Map – Snapchat gives you the option to pick a geofence where your filter will appear, then choose the time and dates you want your Geofilter to be available. Please note that an On-Demand Geofilter cannot cover more than 5 million square feet. It’s important to create a geofence that doesn’t use too many points or thin areas. Also select your start and end dates and times.

Buy - Once raedy you can submit your Geofilter and the Snapchat team will quickly review it and get back to you, once approved it will be running. On-Demand Geofilter starts at $5, and depends on a few factors including, among others, the size of your geofence and the time period you’ve chosen. You can anytime cancel your On-Demand Geofilter by logging in here and selecting “Cancel.”
Snapchat Community Geofilters

Community Geofilters are design to encourage Artists and designers to create and submit a free Community Geofilter for their city, university, a local landmark, or another public location. If your Geofilter is approved by the Snapchat team, Snapchatters nearby will be able to use it to say where they are.

How to submit a Community Geofilter

Submitting Community Geofilter is similar to On Demand Geofilters, here’s how you submit Community Geofilter;
1. First, head over to the Geofilters website and then click Community
2. Once entered, read the instructions and guidelines given on creating a Community Geofilter
3. Click Next
4. Choose the geographic area in which you want your filter to be available in, and upload an image asset.
5. Finally, Click Submit.

Same way with On-Demand Geofilters, all Community Geofilter images must be original artwork and have to first be approved by the Snapchat team. Please note that, in Community Geofilters no brand logos are allowed. In case, if you’d like to use a brand logo, or create a Geofilter for your shop or an upcoming event, you use On-Demand Geofilters on the Geofilters website.

Snapchat Data Filters

Snapchat uses information provided by your device, as well as third-party services, to deliver relevant Data Filters. Thes Data Filters includes your data data or information such as the current temperature, or your current speed, this speed is however not recommended to use while driving. Fr example, the battery filter only appears when your device has a battery charge greater than 90% or less than 10%.

You can anytime turn on and off your Filters under 'Manage' in your Snapchat Settings.

Snapchat update on 21st April, 2016 (Thursday) introduce new face effect feature called Face Swap.  Face Swap is basically a two-person lens, the first one of its kind on Snapchat. The feature is available as a new lens, which you can pull up by tapping and holding your face on camera, then scrolling over to the face swap lens. Basically what it does is just copy and paste faces. Except, the results are so much creepier than we would expect with such a simple concept. Seriously, even the most gorgeous people turn into two awful Franken-beasts in the eyes of this new filter.

Following these guidelines will help increase the likelihood of your Geofilter being selected:
Places
•    Businesses are not currently eligible for Community Geofilters.
•    Draw your geofence thoughtfully, it should only cover the relevant area.
•    Keep it local. Do not cover an entire country, state or province.
•    Select a public place, neighborhood, landmark, venue or other location where people are likely to gather and send Snaps.

Graphics
•    All graphics used must be 100% original.
•    No logos or trademarks. The only exception is that we will accept college and university logos submitted by authorized officials from those schools.
•    Be creative and make it visually compelling.
•    Don't cover up too much of the screen.
•    Make sure it's relevant to the location and something that people will want to use.

Submission Tips
•    Provide a good description, including any relevant dates.
•    Files should be 1080px wide.
•    Files should be under 300KB (for PNGs).

Geofilter  Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs)

Below are a list of common Community Geofilter questions and answers.

How long will it take for my Geofilter to be reviewed?

Submission are reviewed in the order in which they are received. We can't provide a reviewal timeline, unfortunately, but if yours is selected we'll email you. If you have not received a response, it may be because we have not yet reviewed your submission. We appreciate your patience!

Can I submit more than one Geofilter for a single event or location?

In most cases, we try to keep the number of Geofilters per location or event to a minimum. Help us decorate the world by submitting Geofilters for different events and locations!
I messed up. Can I withdraw a Geofilter submission prior to your team reviewing it or resubmit?
Oops! If you notice an issue with your Geofilter, you can resubmit it. Please make sure to clarify the issue in the notes when you resubmit.

Will I be notified once the Geofilter is reviewed?

Typically, after a Geofilter has been reviewed, an automatic email will be sent letting you know if your Geofilter has been approved or not.

I received an email saying my Geofilter was approved and would be “live” soon but it’s been a few days and I still don’t see it. What could be the issue?
If you’re having difficulty viewing the Geofilter, please make sure:
•    You’re in the Geofenced area of the Geofilter
•    Your location settings are enabled and you have a strong GPS signal
•    You have a reliable network connection, preferably Wi-Fi

Can I submit a Geofilter without using the website tool?

Unfortunately, no. All submissions should be made via the Community Geofilter tool.

How can I remove my Geofilter?

If you would like to request that we remove your submitted  Geofilter, please submit a request here, selecting “Remove a Geofilter” on the dropdown, and we will review the request. Please provide all requested information in the form and attach a screenshot of the Geofilter you are requesting that we remove.

What if my Geofilter is not approved?

If your Geofilter was not approved it could be for a variety of reasons, including but not limited to:
•    Unoriginal Content: All graphics and portions of the graphic must be 100% original. Logos and trademarks, including school crests or similar marks are not allowed.
•    Not visually interesting or useful enough: Make sure all submitted Geofilters are something that people will want to use. Remember, anyone within the Geofence may have access to the filter.
•    Not relevant or too broad: Keep it local. Don't cover an entire country, state, or province. We consider Geofilters for entire cities, but the bigger the city, the higher the bar for quality.
•    Insufficient description: If your filter doesn't speak for itself, tell us why it's important.
•    Incorrectly formatted (PNGs): Make sure your Geofilter asset fits in a 1080x1920 pixel box. Also make sure that the file is not too huge (over 300kb).
•    Non-transparent background: Make sure you export your Geofilter on a background that is transparent. A common mistake is to export on an opaque background. Remember, you can resubmit your Geofilter after remedying any issues.

Geostickers Snapchat ~ How to Use Geostickers on Snapchat

Snapchat on August 2, 2016 rolled out a new feature Geostickers Snapchat, which allows users to send city-specific stickers along with their snaps to friends. For now, Snapchat is starting with 10 major cities - New York, San Francisco, Los Angeles, Honolulu, London, Paris, Sydney, São Paulo, Riyadh, and Washington, DC. Here we will you through on How to Use Geostickers on Snapchat.
Geostickers follow the trend of using geocentric elements in messaging, like the geo-filters Snapchat already provides. Just like normal stickers, Geostickers can be sent in chat messages, stuck anywhere on top of snaps, or be pinned inside of videos. The difference between the two is that Geostickers don’t necessarily mention the location from which they are sent. Instead, they are caricature-like drawings that highlight landmarks, mock local trends, and more. Geostickers can be moved around when overlaid on image, while Geofilters cannot.

How to Use Geostickers on Snapchat

Like we said, Geostickers are a lot like Geofilters, you will need to have your location services enabled to use this feature. And when you send a Geosticker, you’ll let your friends know where you were when you took the Snap — like if you use the Big Apple sticker when you’re visiting New York City.

Enable Geofilters & Location Services
You will need to enable Filters in your Snapchat Settings as well as location services on your device for this feature. To enable location services for Snapchat on your device follow the below steps:

For iOS devices:
If you are on iOS device follow the steps below:
Go to Settings > Privacy > Location Services, and turn on for Snapchat

For Android devices:
Go to Settings > Location > Turn on

Enable Filters on Snapchat
Go to Snapchat Settings.
Tap 'Manage' under Additional Services.
Toggle 'Filters' on.

Update Snapchat to the latest version
This feature comes with the latest version of Snapchat. Now update your Snapchat app to the latest version. You could update from your respective app store.

How to Access Geostickers and Use Geostickers

To access Geostickers and use Geostickers on Snapchat, follow the steps-by-steps instructions below;
1. Open your Snapchat App.
2. On your screen, just tap the sticker icon in the top right corner of the screen.
3. Take a Snap or '😄 ' in Chat.
4. After you take a Snap, then, swipe over to the location section to find Geostickers, assuming if this features are available in your area.
5. If it is availabel, you will see the new feature added at the bottom row. Start swiping right. That's where you will find all the specific Geostickers in your area.

That's it on Geostickers 101 or Snapchat Geostickers or Geostickers Snapchat. Happy Snapping!

Snapchat Birthday Filters ~ How to use Snapchat birthday filters

Snapchat rolled out special features on February 23rd,2016 that will only be available one day a year, one of which can only be used on your birthday, and one that can only be used if snapping friends on their birthday.

With this update, Snapchat has added new filters and emoji that will show next to the name of friends who are celebrating their special day, essentially serving as a reminder to send them a happy birthday snap like other social networking sites. Lastly the company will be updating the time filter, allowing users to tap it so it displays the day’s date instead of current time.

The feature needs to be manually enabled by heading straight to Settings and choosing the Birthday option. Please note that, since the update only appears to bring the birthday features, if those features aren’t enabled then nothing will show up.
Snapchat Birthday Filters

Enabling the feature also helps Snapchat, since a person’s birthday is valuable data that can be sold on again to advertisers. Twitter took advantage of the same thing last year when it added special animations that come up on a person’s birthday, and a field showing it on people’s profiles — which also worked as a way of encouraging people to make their personal information public.

How to get Snapchat birthday filters

If you want to set up the Birthday Party feature on Snapchat don’t worry, the process is easy and will take you no time at all. To activate the birthday features on snapchat and get exclusive happy birthday lenses as well as a few more features, all you have to do is follow this short list of instructions.

First, you need to let Snapchat know your birth day. Update your Snapchat app to the latest version, then you need to enable this feature on Settings –> My Account, then tap on Birthday.

You need to confirm your birthday to make sure the information is correct, then tap okay

When you enable the birthday feature of the new Snapchat update, you will get a Cake Emoji next to your username on Snapchat. The cake emoji for your birthday on Snapchat will be visible to people who have added you. This way they will know it is your birthday and send you happy birthday snaps. The 2016 birthday party update also allows you to use an exclusive lens on the day of your birthday. This allows you to share with all your friends that it is your birthday. After your big day is over the happy birthday snapchat lens will no longer be available.

Happy Snapping!

Snapchat On-Demand Geofilter - Snapchat Custom Filters. How it Works

Tagging status and photos with a hashtag or a location in social networking sites like Facebook and Twitter is quite simple unlike Snapchat. Snapchat’s version of letting people know where you are or hashtag is its Geofilters. Geofilters is the one of the coolest features, the the ability to add a Geofilter to an image or a video, a special stamp that is added with the name of a place, business or event. Snapchat users are pretty obsessed with them, and hundreds of millions of photos with these Geofilters are viewed daily, the company says.

Starting Monday, though, Snapchat wants to make it easier to show your friends you're at a wedding or party instead of just adding a geofilter with the name of a city for as low as $5. This fearure is currently available within the US, UK and Canada only. This feature will roll out to other countries soon.

Here is what Snapchats has to say about this new feature on their blog.

Geofilters are one of our favorite parts of Snapchat. We’ve been blown away by the creativity of the Snapchat community, and we’ve loved watching the personality of each place emerge through your artwork. To date, almost half a million Community Geofilters have been submitted, and every day, Snaps overlaid with Geofilters are viewed hundreds of millions of times!

We initially designed Community Geofilters for public places — but we kept hearing from Snapchatters who wanted a Geofilter for their business or private event, so today we’re announcing something new:
On-Demand Geofilters let you create and publish a Geofilter for your party, wedding, business, or any other place or event. It’s a fun way to help your friends or customers decorate their Snaps, wherever they are!
You can now custom-build your filter through Snapchat official website. You are require to submit a graphic that lines up with Snapchat's guidelines, which include no photos of people, no contact information, and no covering up too much of the screen. Snapchat will personally approve your filter before it becomes available, and the process will take about one day.

How Snapchat On-Demand Geofilter or Custom Geofilter Works?

Design - Use your favorite image editor to create a filter. Snapchat have provided some templates that are compatible with Photoshop and Illustrator to get you started :)

Map -  Pick a geofence where your filter will appear, then choose the time and dates you want your Geofilter to be available.

Buy -  Submit your Geofilter. Snapchat team will quickly review it and, assuming all is well, get it up and running.

You can buy On-Demand Geofilters for an event or even an entire block — for an hour or up to thirty days! Pricing starts at $5, and depends on a few factors including, among others, the size of your geofence and the time period you’ve chosen. On-Demand Geofilters are available now in the US, UK, and Canada, with more locations coming soon!

Snapchat Geofilters Submission Guidelines

For Snapchat to be able to run your Geofilter, you’ll need to follow these guidelines:

Places and Dates
Draw your geofence thoughtfully. It should cover the relevant area. We will use location information to determine if a Snapchatter is within your Geofilter geofence. Unfortunately, sometimes location information accuracy isn’t exact, so it’s important to create a geofence that doesn’t use too many points or thin areas. An On-Demand Geofilter must be between 20 thousand and 5 million square feet. For more information about the types of location information we may use please visit our Privacy Policy.
Select dates and times that you’re confident will cover the time you want the Geofilter to be active. An On-Demand Geofilter cannot be active for more than 30 days.

Graphics
Do not use logos or trademarks you don’t own or have authorization to use.
No photographs of people.
No URLs, phone numbers or emails.
No drug-related content.
Be creative and make it visually compelling. Make something that Snapchat users will want to send to their friends.
Don't cover up too much of the screen.
Make sure it's relevant to the location.

Submission Tips
Files should be 1080px wide by 1920px high. Use the purchase tool preview page to see how it will look on different devices.
Files should be under 300KB in size and saved as a .PNG file with a transparent background.
If your Geofilter is rejected by Snapchat we’ll do our best to provide you a reason as to why it was rejected. You can make adjustments and resubmit your filter as a new order.

Name your geofilter something you will remember--that way it will be easier to understand your results.
Business Guidelines

You must have the necessary rights and permissions to include any business names, marks, logos, or trademarks in a Geofilter.

If you are submitting a Geofilter for a business your Geofilter must include a business name. Enter your business name on the purchase page and keep in mind that Snapchat may display the name, as entered by you, to let Snapchat users know that your business provided the Geofilter.

Frequently Asked Questions about Snapchat Geofilters

How to Create an On-Demand Geofilter
1.    Open your preferred image editing software. We provide templates that are compatible with Adobe Photoshop or Illustrator.
2.    Create an image on a 1080 by 1920 pixel large file with a transparent background, or use one of the templates we provide here.
3.    Create your Geofilter design. Remember to leave enough free space available so Snapchatters can still see their image content behind the design. (We suggest you only use the top or bottom 25% of the screen - remember Snapchatters want to see themselves in a selfie!)
4.    Save your Geofilter from the File menu using ‘Save>Save for Web (Legacy)’ and select the ‘PNG-24’ preset from the drop down menu. Make sure you save your image as a PNG so the background is transparent. It’s important to create a Geofilter with a transparent background so Snapchatters’ photos and videos can still be seen when the Geofilter is in use.
5.    Upload your Geofilter using the On-Demand Geofilters tool at:http://geofilters.snapchat.com.
6.    Select your start and end dates and times.
7.    Draw your geofence! It should cover the relevant area. Please keep in mind Geofilters work by using a few location indicators to determine where a Snapchatter is and then showing all available Filters in that area. To learn more about how we determine your location please go here. Unfortunately, sometimes accuracy isn’t exact, so it’s important to create a geofence that doesn’t use too many points or thin areas. An On-Demand Geofilter cannot cover more than 5 million square feet.
8.    Enter your payment information and submit your Geofilter.
9.    Now sit back and relax, you just submitted an On-Demand Geofilter! Our team will be in touch by the next business day.
Pro Tip: If your image is too large, try using an image resizing tool!
